You may have read from Gabriel Ludosanu in the past on the Xojo blog. And of course you may have seen changes from him in the documentation as he is a technical writer for Xojo Inc.
Last change for hotel rooms! Any one needs one?
End of months we release our allocation and the rooms will be sold to whoever books them on the hotel website.
Please note that there are constructions on the train tracks, that may affect your train journey.
One of the tracks from Frankfurt to Mainz is blocked 3rd to 23rd April, so you may need to switch to other lines as the usual RE trains will not go. Also S8 isn’t going from Wiesbaden to Mainz.
There is also a constructions between Andernach and Koblenz 20th to 21st April.
And Koblenz to Bingen ist also in repair 10th to 24th April.
Which basically means, that if you have to come from Frankfurt to the conference, you may take the train to cologne and then a train along the Rhine to Andernach from north.
The bahn website and the app will show suggestions for alternative routes. If you got a ticket, they usually rebook you on a different one. And if you have a delay of 20 minutes or more, you are no longer bound to a particular train.
if you have an extra day, you can take a train, bus or taxi to Mayen. 20 km away.
Walk through the old city, see the city wall with the gates, into the castle and visit the mining museum inside the castle’s basement.
Then maybe a bus or taxi to the castle Bürresheim:
That one was featured in many movies.
Please note that check-in in the hotel should be before 21:00 o’clock.
if you come very late, you may better email/call them. I’d assume they either wait for you a bit longer, tell you to check-in upstairs in the restaurant or use a key box.
The meet-up for the accompanying wives is 9am on Thursday and Friday down in the lobby.
Monika will be there and you’ll do something. Like walking to see Andernach itself and/or taking a bus/train/car to do some sight seeing. Depends all on how many people show up and what the weather looks like.
There are not only train works in Germany, but airline strikes — our flight was cancelled and we were forced to change flights leading to an 8 hour delay in arriving. So check regularly!

But you may also be affected at a later date, e.g. the UK flight to Germany may miss the airplane, that didn’t fly to the UK due to the strike.
Is there a bus from Frankfurt Main to Andernach, or should we still catch a train from Frankfurt Main to Cologne then another train to Andernach?
You could do that if you have lots of time, at least 4 hours. The ICE from Frankfurt to Köln is much faster.
