Interesting.
I look forward to seeing it.
Mind you, if it is this Andrew Timmins, he hasn’t been active on the forum for nearly two years

Very possible

Some months back (May) someone from Apress was seeking peer review https://forum.xojo.com/t/seeking-peer-review-of-xojo-book/75808

I really hope that the guy Apress hired have good knowledge about Xojo and programming, to review, correct possible flaws, and suggest better updated and modern codes if necessary. The forum is full of guessers that I hope that didn’t get that job.

Guess we will find out in November

An actual book? Like on paper? What are those?

Will be happy to order it once we can see a bit of what’s inside.

Just got a message from Amazon that there is a delay with my preorder and they need my approval to continue processing

I looked on Amazon yesterday and the book still has not been published.

ACtually now says by “unknown author” and Currently unavailable.
We don’t know when or if this item will be back in stock.

That is weird. Can you ask for a refund?

I also got that message a month or so ago, and I approved it. Shortly after, Amazon sent another message that said the order has been canceled and that the book would not be available. I hadn’t been charged for it, so no refund was necessary.

Also, a couple months ago I had emailed Apress (the publisher listed) and asked them for an ETA on the book’s release, since it was past the November release date. They gave me a wishy-washy answer and said the book was still scheduled for release, but wouldn’t or couldn’t give me an approximate date. I finally gave up hope. I’m guessing this book was nowhere near to being finished and somebody had jumped the gun on it. Based on the book’s description I was really looking forward to it.

Might have been all or partly AI-written. I hear there is a fair amount of that happening.

they could also count the number of preorders, and seeing that it’s not enough, cancel the book ?

Barnes & Noble has a pretty thorough listing for the book:

They list the author as Andrew Timmins, and I’m assuming this is his forum profile:

It would be nice and in this day and age I would have expected the author to chime in about an impending book.

The new norm seems to be that authors themselves are expected to be part of the marketing of new books. I would have thought for this kind of book in particular thus would be true.

It wasn’t AI written, but I do suspect it’s been canned for whatever reason.

Wasn’t there a request for someone to proof read a new book recently? I see Jeff beat me to it.

But it also says “Out of Stock Online” and “UNAVAILABLE FOR PICKUP”
