Conversely, I have not received a single comment. And if I did, my answer would be “it’s being worked on, it’ll be ready when I’m happy with the results.” I don’t need to mention that I’m being held up by my dev tool. Personally, I couldn’t care less about the new UI. I think it’s a hideous usability nightmare. But that’s neither here nor there.
I’m not really sure how that would help here. Are you suggesting moving all controls up by about 5 pixels so their vertical center point remains the same? I do this on Windows to account for their larger control sizes, but Windows users are less picky.
But we’re now in a situation where we have wildly different metrics not just between platforms, but different versions of the same platform. It would sure suck to use the IDE in macOS 26, place a 20 pixel button on your window, and when you run, the actual button is both larger and in a different location than you placed it. On top of that, since the controls are actually rendered by the system in the layout editor, they’ll be rendered at the new size but clipped to the old size. The whole experience would suck.
Common Xojo Inc, inform your customers with a new update/statement. That would be very highly appreciated. Thank you in advance! We all want Xojo to succeed in the end.
I doubt that Xojo will be able to deliver all the fancy LiquidUI-Features, for example those, that depends on layered components, like the on resize animated, translucent toolbar with a picture or a map in the background.
If you only need some native widgets, ok, but Xojo never supported all what the platforms offer.
Sorry for the lack of updates. As you might imagine, things have taken a little longer than we thought. Earlier today we did just push out our first 2025r3 Beta for the MVPs to look at. We expect to get the beta out to the rest of you within two weeks.
The fact that Xojo does not generally release hotfixes for bugs but instead chooses to fix them for a coming release, means that postponing a release because of whatever, renders and leaves current releases unusable for some. I think that is quite an issue.
I also hope that’s not all. So far, I’m not particularly impressed, and I’m not convinced that this would require a longer development time than usual…
But I’m open to surprises.
Having gone through the Retina and Dark Mode phases of macOS and seeing what’s changed in Tahoe, a longer development time for r3 is certainly warranted. Making all of those new technologies work for users is a huge task by itself.
