Google Translate pretty much slaughters everything, especially long descriptions, but it’s getting better. I would love some help but I wouldn’t want to take up too much of your time.

Over the years I’ve found that it’s better to release in English and just do the languages as you get translators for them (I do spanish myself, for example). Google translations are an absolute put-off and can really hinder a program’s acceptance. Sometimes the ways in which it’s horrible are subtle and only obvious to non-native speakers.
Most definitively, Google Translate slaughters anything that aims to look professional. I’d really recommend against it. The price in image and customer/user perception just isn’t worth it.

As a follow-up, I’ve asked translator friends of mine who work localising applications and they mention http://www.proz.com and http://www.translatorscafe.com/cafe/default.asp as good places to get translators to help you that are knowlegeable about tools like Lingua and understand the intricacies of translating for an app compared to, say, a text or a movie.
They asked me to plug them to translate to spanish from english, so here they are: carolaclavo and angeldominguez on twitter

Apple is taking about 3 days average right now to approve or reject MAS apps. My first attempt of v1.1.7 was rejected (3 days to reject) and this re-sandboxed v1.1.7 version took another 3 days to get approved. I just uploaded v1.1.8 and I am assuming another 3 days
