Frameworks has bout 628k lines of code, which is a mixture of Xojo, C++, and the other languages.
Now describing the build process. I’ll mention any highlights, but really this is worthy of watching on YouTube once it’s available.
I’ll remind him to check out this thread after the conference, I doubt he will have time to reply today.
Building a pre-release for all platforms takes about 3 hours. (!)
About a million lines of code in total for IDE, Frameworks and Compiler.
Takes 3 hours for building all.
Describing the process now, which Paul calls “Modified Agile”. Won’t go through the points here.
How does this process scale in terms of team size?
Internally? Perhaps @Paul_Lefebvre will speak more to it here.
Paul is wrapping up with questions now. Up next, @William_Yu will talk about “Getting Intimate with the Xojo Framework”.
William is describing the components of the frameworks and core data types starting with Strings.
I won’t go through everything, but he’s describing some differences between API2 vs classic API implementations of some functions, like ToString vs. Str.
While you wait for the full keynote video, here’s a demo of the upcoming Grid Control Geoff showed during his presentation.
William is describing some of the underlying technologies that go into the framework, and some of it is over my head. For example, “Cario/Pango” on Linux for graphics. I don’t know what that means exactly, so I won’t try to expound. Again, this is worth a watch once it hits YouTube.
Are these penguin names?
Names of C++ libraries to do the work.
William is wrapping up with questions. Next up is lunch, then we split sessions starting at 1 pm:
- Integrating Machine Learning into your Xojo Apps - Jim Meyer
- Creating a Common Desktop App Installer - Ken Whitaker
Bon appetit!
