I encourage everyone to go to their forum profile and add their city/region/country. That way when another user clicks on your avatar, they see where you live.

I “liked” this as that’s cool and all, but also would make me a stalker if I went through and clicked on everyone’s profile just to see where they were. That would be like me knocking on everyone’s door, “hey, where are you?, or who are you?”, but this thread is more a shout out, “Hi! I’m from X in Y!” I really like it
I am not making a request of Xojo, and this would probably be a feature request of the developers of this forum (who knows it might actually be or there may be a plugin), it would be a cool “feature” if people could add there geographical location and a “rough” one that could be made public (ie I personally don’t mind people knowing where I’m from the NSW Central Coast, Australia, but someone may prefer to have a larger geographical area, such as Sydney, or just NSW), and then having the choice of making those locations “public”. It could make for a cool dynamic map.
I’ve enjoyed seeing the users chime in here, keep 'em coming!

That’s my point. You can put in whatever you want in the Location field of your Profile. You could put just your country if you like. How specific or non-specific you choose to be is completely up to you. Personally, I don’t think clicking on avatars to see approximately where people are is stalking. That’s just curiosity. Showing up at their house unannounced would be stalking.

The database has addresses, we use CLGeocoderMBS class in our plugin to get the latitude and longitude for each address and store them in the database, so we can export them at any time as xml file for Google Earth. The picture is a screenshot.

In the “old” forum I added “Brazil UTC-3:00” to a tag field that were presented on the right side of my name. I wished it could be some kind of default, due to the immense utility of if in a world forum. Country/place and time zone. This way we have clues of culture/language and even realize the possibility of answering someone that probably is sleeping.
