Problems with Xojo 2025r2.1 and License key

Xojo 2025 r2.1 on Windows 11.
Every time I load a project and try to compile it, I get the “License required” message, even though I have a Pro license valid until March 2026.
So I have to go to the Help/License keys menu and set my license.
However, as soon as I close the project and reopen it, the problem returns.
I remember that this problem didn’t exist with version 2025r1.
What can I do?
Greetings to the entire community.

You could try removing the license and reinstalling it. Failing that contact hello@xojo.com for help.

How do you do that?
Do you login in the IDE? or add the license key manually?

On windows I think it is on Help About. On Mac is is Xojo About.

There is a licence tab. Go there. You can click on a license and remove it. Or add one from a file downloaded from the Xojo website.

You can also view the license on the website and check where it is assigned to. If it is assigned to too many machines you will have a problem.

I add the license manually from the IDE (Help/License keys)

I would check account on Xojo and make sure under licenses → manage that the computer you are using shows
Maybe you need to remove one so the license registers?

Normally, when you run out of licenses, you’re asked to transfer it from another computer, and that’s what happens now.
The problem is that it doesn’t stay associated with this computer.

Yes normally but not everything works as expected

Was just a suggestion

I just installed Xojo on another windows 11 PC , went to Xojo.com and deauthorized a PC from my license (pro) then authorized the new PC and all worked as expected.

I have seen a couple of reports in the last year with the same problem.
Both times it was fixed by login to the IDE and let the IDE connect to Xojo server and authorize the license.
Not sure why manually add it fails for some people.

@AlbertoD can you explain me what “login to the IDE and let the IDE connect to Xojo server and authorize the license.” means?

In the IDE, go to the help menu and choose My Account. That will take you to xojo.com and prompt you to verify your xojo account. The IDE then saves that info to your local machine and use it when needed.

I just renewed a license that was 10 years old and when I opened the IDE, the new license was already there.

Sure, this is Mac but windows should be similar.
Look for ‘Sign In…’

In this case Licenses is empty:

Make sure that you removed authorization in Xojo.com:

Now, ‘Sign In…’ using the IDE menu option.
Click ‘Update’ on the Xojo licenses window and it should update:

Now, you should not have the problem.

If you refresh the xojo licenses page, you should see the computer identification under the license, like this:

On Windows these are the options:

Click on “License Keys…”:

Press Add button:
image
and select the previously downloaded license from Xojo
Insert the email address I used when I bought the license and click OK

Message that I have no license remaining, click Transfer

Now the license is active:

But if I close the project and reopen it, the license is gone…

Clear the license assignment on the Xojo website and then try again?

I would:

  • select sign out (from your first screenshot)
  • go to Xojo.com, licenses, remove the authorizations for any computer
  • maybe restart windows/xojo
  • Sign in to your freguglia_nedi account using Sign in under help
  • go to IDE licenses and click update

do not use Add… button, you will still have problems if you do (as other reports I have seen on the last year). You need to make ‘Update’ button work to update your licenses on the IDE.

I hope you make it work.

Ok @Ian_Kennedy , this works!!

Thank you so much!

Your welcome. Glad it worked.

As I stated a few replies above

@AlbertoD It is enough removing the authorizations for any computer and add one.
Thank you for your support!

Glad you got it worked out
Why you ignored my suggestion and kept trying stuff is unknown
