Try disabling TimeMachine. This can slow down Xojo - a lot.

Try doing a repair first…

IDE Slowness on macOS Big Sur

For any of you running the IDE on macOS Big Sur, if you’re using Time Machine and are seeing slowness in the code editor, please use Disk Utility to do a First Aid check on your Time Machine drive(s). I have no idea why these things are connected, but it made a huge difference on my system here. Edit: The affected machine has an Intel processor.
