Xojo Lite Library of controls availability

Hi everyone,

Sorry if this has been asked before—just trying to clear a few things up before I take the plunge.

I’ve mostly worked solo on Windows over the years and am planning to go with the Xojo Lite edition for now. That said, I’m looking to buy a license today and want to be sure I’m not missing anything important.

Mainly, I’d like to know:

  1. Does the Lite edition include all the key controls needed for building desktop apps?
  2. Are controls like DesktopHTMLViewer (for HTML5/JS content), MoviePlayer, Canvas, ColorPicker, and organizers like tab controls included in the Lite version?

I don’t own a Mac and have no immediate need to build for macOS, but if the Desktop license comes with extra tools or long-term advantages, I’m open to considering that as well.

I did check the product comparison page, but hearing from actual users always helps. Appreciate any insight!

Thank you so much!

Yes, it does

As you can see in the above Screenshot, you only miss non-sqlite database access, preemptive threads and faceless (console only) apps.

I’m pretty sure that Multicore Support means “Workers”

Then I hope someone from Xojo reads this and uses it as inspiration for an update to the comparison page.
