XDC this year falls on kids Spring Break

In recent years XDC/RealWorld has always been held in April. This year it was scheduled in March unfortunately during my kid’s spring break from Middle School. Since I’m on the road and away from home most of the year working I really do like to spend spring break with my family (and not in a seminar). Had I known about this scheduling conflict in advance I definitely would not have been attending this years event and still may not even though I’ve already paid for it. :frowning:

I’m just curious how many other Xojo fans/attendees are similarly affected by this year’s schedule.

That’s unfortunate. Can you bring your kids?

At this point I’m weighing all options. Hopefully this doesn’t happen again in 2015.

Well, the spring break makes it possible to bring friends which are in university and only have time in break.

Leave it to Christian to come up with that silver lining. BTW I’m working on bringing the wife and kids out to Vegas with me. Blue Man Group and Chris Angel, baby !!

Remind me to tell you my Vegas Chris Angel story. Meanwhile, go see Love, O, and/or Ka.

XDC is the week after my kids spring break. I think he’s getting an extended vacation.

The Conference always takes place in the spring, but is not always in April. In 2012 the conference was in late May, last year it was in April and this year it’s late March. Unfortunately everyone’s spring break varies (across the US) and we did look at the school and university schedules before committing to the dates. I hope you are still able to attend - there are lots of fun things for the kids to do in Vegas!

Which shows how old fashioned I am. When I was a kid it was called Easter Break an always happened around Easter. Since Easter falls on April 20th this year I now see there’s absolutely no correlation. Dana, please forgive my complaining on this matter. You always produce a good event and that’s what it’s really all about. Anyhow it looks like I’m going to be there after all; this year, though, with family in tow.

Easter is highly variable as well since its defined as “the Sunday following the paschal full moon, which is the full moon that falls on or after the vernal (spring) equinox.”
So that can move around a lot

When I was an Indiana high school kid, if I “woke up” in Ft. Lauderdale, FL it was Easter Break. LOL !!!
