It would be nice to see this project go more complex like a complete and secure Authentication module with creating username , with secure endpoints and different technologies.
How do we store and secure the properties in the classes and so on.
Not to forget the cookies you mentioned about there.
It would be interesting to know how to have a safe public app.

I want to write a blog post about user login, once I have it ready, it would be great to update this example, yep.
If there is interest, securing the API and signing requests might be interesting also.
