Why don't I get crash logs?

I’ve got 2 computers. A MacBook Air with now Catalina and an iMac with High Sierra to keep my sanity as main development machine. The iMac has one odd problem: it doesn’t do crash logs. I was playing around with a reproducible problem in Rapidweaver. On the Air I get crash reports. But on the iMac I don’t get them in the usual folder. The computer doesn’t ask me if it can contact Apple. Just nothing.

Has anyone else seen something like that? How do I fix the problem?

Do you see them in the Mac Console app?

Nope.

in system settings - Security and privacy
left sidebar “analyse” is “Share with developers” checked?

Not sure if it has anything to do with it but it could be.

“Share with developers” wasn’t turn on. But it didn’t make a difference.

There’s a utility that Apple ships as an add-on to Xcode which allows you to determine whether you get crash reports or not. Can’t remember the name of it off the top of my head though.

used to be called CrashReporterPrefs
but that was long ago

but this just disables the dialog - not the generation of the reports
