Hello all,
I am wondering what everyone is using to create reports? While most of what I need is for Web Apps, desktop are also used.
Thanks,
Tim

you could setup a report server.
this usually connect to a database and have a report designer.
maybe Valentina Reports
or create pdf at runtime.

I’m giving a talk on Xojo Reporting to a Xojo group in the Cotswolds, UK on 5 December. I’ve put the Keynote presentation online in case you want to have a look. It’s build into all my Xojo apps and works on desktop, web and iOS. Basically reporting comes as small, medium and extra-large!

I will have a look.

I have been using Paradigma/Valentina ADK for several years for pretty complex reports (including barcodes, QR-codes, etc.). However, the limited functionality there (I had been coming from crystal reports and/or MS-Access reports) did require some adjustments in the DB (views, etc.). But me and my clients like the reports pretty much.
I’snt that the 2nd?
I have used BKeeney Shorts Pro for years (Discontinued).
I’ve adapted it to API2 and can personalize as I need.
AFAIK, it’s still available at BKeeney Shorts 2.0 - varcess. Dunno if it’s been updated since I sold it to them or not.
@Bob_Keeney3, No news after you sell it to them
We are working on a new release of BKeeney Shorts, which will be released in spring 2025.
Sorry, yes!
BTW I have not used either Valentia Reports or BKeeney Shorts, so they don’t appear in my Keynote.
Will there be a new version soon of BKeeny?
Bob is no longer maintaining Shorts. Shorts has been sold to Varcess.

This link was also mentioned by Bob himself in this thread in November 2024. 2 replies underneath Bob’s replay there is mentioned that a new version is expected in the spring of 2025. It’s summer now and I don’t know why the new version isn’t released yet. Maybe @Daniel_Fritzsche can shed some light on why the new version hasn’t released yet.
We’ve used DynaPDF for years and while it takes time to set it up and code reports, you have unlimited flexibility because the report is code driven.
We are working on the new version of BKeeney Shorts and it will be released in 2025. We have still some work to do.
Everyone who will buy or has bought a version in 2025 will get a free upgrade.
