Well… As there is one thing that pure web apps for browsers currently can’t have it, is the interaction with the underlying hardware, so each platform can have few specific “super powers”.

I’m hoping that the improved controls in Web2.0 will also be available on Desktop! (Especially an improved ListBox, of course!)
