Hello, is there someone using a VR Headset for development at Homeoffice PC?
i work remote (via ms rdp) at my pc in real office. phone app or ms teams is on local pc.
i saw advertising from Apple Vision Pro yesterday
You are not supposed to play with this toy for long hours as software development demands. Maybe you could watch an 1h30 movie and rest your eyes and forehead after, but not an 8h journey.
i have a vr headset at ps4 but this is low resolution.
yes i agree it feel bit uncomfortable for longer gaming sessions.
it seems that apple vision display the face inside this glasses or render a virtual head
at videos calls.
for people that never saw this device:

Xojo devs are aware. Anyone that watched the WWDC23 20 days ago are aware.
We even have forum posts here about it and the VisionOS you probably missed, check around.
Right now, useless. Needs to gain traction or will end as Zuckerberg’s VR.
i only saw that ios xojo apps could run.
the cool part would be if we can drop/fix a window to a real wall in ar.
the other cool part is that the room can be replaced into a virtual world.
virtual painting, virtual pets.
If Tim can sell 10 million units for Brazilians, I’m interested, if not, I don’t care.
There is no VR headset available today that would be comfortable enough to be used for work, I mean like wearing it all day and using as a computer display. They are just too heavy. Also, the display resolution is lower than a standard Retina (high DPI) screen, which makes it difficult to use for text editing (even with pancake optics and quite good resolution, like Quest Pro).
You might consider using some form of AR glasses though. It is the only XR device I can actually use for work, as it is light enough to wear for an extended period of time. I have Xreal Air (formerly Nreal) and they are quite OK, although I use them mainly to watch movies while travelling, but I could use it as a display and work with it for a few days (which is impossible with Quest Pro due to the weight of the device).
And about Apple Vision Pro… it’s not available yet. We need to wait for the first devices to ship, first real impressions published, etc.
yes xreal air looks interesting
a similar product Rokid Max
i dig some more into this topic
found this interesting app
https://www.vrdesktop.net/
and this year appear Meta Quest 3
working with others around the world in a virtual office from home office seems very nice and fun.
one more virtual monitors streaming app
it have a software at the vr/ar headset store (if your device is supported) which connect to the pc.
my favorites this year, cost-benefit ratio, virtual desktop or immersed, standalone, pc-vr.
- meta quest 3 (this autumn 2023)
- pico 4 (less apps/games but better view than quest 2)
- meta quest 2 (older lens technique, low in price)
I have the NReal (XREAL) air AR glasses and they work well on my Windows 11 computer. The original cord was too short and I purchased a 6 foot thunderbolt USB-C to USB-C cord. This is to plug into the GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card.
Using the AR Glasses helps keep my posture correct.
today i tested the pico 4 with immersed:
the disadvantage is the pass through via camera, at least it is possible with good lighting in room.
ms rdp is best to fit maximized to a single screen. (rdp stretched over multiple screens in vr would need the virtual monitors side by side, if there is one position free in 3d it would look messy)
hand/finger tracking at pico is somehow beta.
mapped bt keyboard in immersed into 3d word is only possible with meta quest 2,unfortunately.
battery of device is fast emptied if it is connected to pc indirect via wireless.
i bought a longer usb cable for it.
