Timeout when trying to connect to IMAP account

A user can’t connect to ANY of his IMAP accounts. He says that he doesn’t use LittleSnitch but this symptoms are the same. What else could cause this?

    hostname: imap.gmail.com
    port: 993
    socket2Connect:
      connect2:
        connectImplicitSsl:
          connectSocket_v2:
            connect_domain:
              ckDnsResolveDomainIPv4_n:
                num_app_defined_ns: 0
                revert_to_old_dns:
                  domain: imap.gmail.com
                  ck_getaddrinfo:
                    getAddressInfo:
                      hostOrIpAddr: imap.gmail.com
                    --getAddressInfo
                  --ck_getaddrinfo
                --revert_to_old_dns
              --ckDnsResolveDomainIPv4_n
              ipv4_address: 142.251.168.109
              timeout waiting for connect to complete;
              timeoutMs: 10000
              failedWaitToConnect: Socket operation timeout.
Failed to make TCP connection before applications max wait time to connect.
              connectTimeoutMs: 10000
            --connect_domain
          --connectSocket_v2

Maybe it’s an IPv4/v6/(VPN Tunneling) thing?

Can you explain with more detail what you mean?

does his account works in thunderbird?

grafik

have he enabled imap there?
my settings in gmail web front end.

He said that his accounts worked until mid November. But perhaps he disabled the IMAP account by accident. Good idea!

with oauth2 there would pop up a google login where you allow external apps access.

OAuth is on my to-do list. I effing hate the stupid approval processes of Google, Microsoft and Apple.

Not really, but searching for issues related to ckDnsResolveDomainIPv4_n leading often to WAN connections w/o IPv4 support or tunneled VPN connections.
