I think I’m about to go into one. 
The functional spec indicated the use of Transparent Ink was mandatory… nothing was indicated that an opacity property even existed. It is your job as a developer to follow the specifications as outlined by the customer and your project manager, and while you can attempt to make reccomendations, they are not bound to accept or incorporate them.
