Stripe integration software

Has anybody had any experience with integrating Stripe into a web app using Matt Combatti’s software. So far all of my efforts to make it work have come to nought I think that matt may have gone AWOL because he has stopped answering my requests for a refund. Has anybody been able to make this bit of software work?

His demo does not work either ; sent him an email on August 18 about that and have had no reply since.

It has been a while I have not seen him in the forum either.

Hope nothing bad happened to him that would prevent his reply. Nevertheless, that lack of reaction, plus the fact that the demo he offers for download does not work, reflects very poorly on his business…

If I was an average Joe who downloaded his evaluation sample, how could I trust the class works as advertised, when the demo does not, and support seems dead ?

Its a shame that Matt has chosen to adopt the Ronald Biggs business model. I only paid $15 for the app (albeit non functioning), but I thought that supporting fellow programmers was the right thing to do. Obviously I got it wrong.
Hope nothing bad happened to him that would prevent his reply.
Ditto to that

It is

Matthew Combatti has been spotted in the forum today after days of disappearance !

Maybe he will be nice enough to pay attention to this thread and bring in some answer ?

Please resend Mitchell I cannot find your email. Can even forward here. Some european email addresses have been being denied by my provider due to spam and such (.co.uk.com being one of many), and Gmail is completely denied.

I am ok and well but have been working on some engineering projects which have stolen time away from development for the last few weeks :-/ I have reviewed your emails Chris and hope that you recieved my last (almost 3.5 weeks ago) containing a verified working demo with demo stripe account and credential details enclosed, plus demo email account and credentials to verify stripe as being accessed and properly functioning with the classes (the demo email is associated with the demo stripe account). If you have time this week, send me a message here and perhaps we can Skype or I can find whatever means convenient for you to help you through usage/setup/troubleshooting of the modules. A major issue which prevents a majority of the errors seen with the modules is usually an incorrect setup of Node, where node cannot locate the stripe libraries, or ‘node’ isn’t ‘recognized as a command.’ (Easy fixes on Windows and for Mac altering the bash_profile). If you type “node -v” in bash and press enter, the version number should appear. If an error is seen, that is where our problem lies. Let me know a good time for you and whether or not you recieved the email with all the working (Mac, Windows, and Linux tested) demos and credentials. If not, I’ll upload them and provide a download link in lieu of email attachment (most email antivirus’ do not permit any JavaScript code to be attached, aka Node, and will usually delete or junk the message).

Hope you have all been well. I’m still around, just finishing up some outside business.

Glad to see you are alright.

According to statistics, GMail is one of the major email providers around so it seems a bit hasty to simply discard messaged from prospects and customers using it. And denying co.uk com is like denying .com in the US. This is your business, but you may want to reconsider, or at least let people know on your contact page that the address posted is filtered that way. For my own site I do not provide any email address the way you do, so it cannot become an issue.

Here is the message I sent to through Gmail (which is probably the best as filtering out spam intelligently). It concerns your demo of the stripe class for the Web Edition. This is the first time I see such an app unable to display anything. I post this here so am sure you get it, and your reply can be useful to other people interested in the class :

I haven’t seen that error. Is xojo opening the debug build to localhost:8080? Let me fire it up and see if I can’t track down the issue if it is opening on port 8080 and I’ll forward you a new copy  I do know sometimes with debug builds I’ll have to refresh the browser to get web edition pages to load.

@Chris I don’t know if you’ve ventured back to this thread yet since your post but let me know a good time to chat and I’ll help you get Node working.

Just tried. It does open on 127.0.0.1:8080 and I get “This webpage is not available”.

Ok. I’ll be doing some non-dev work later today (2am here) and returning Saturday afternoon. By then I’ll forward a new demo for you to try out.

It goes the other way also, over time ohanaware.com has been flagged as spam on all major e-mail providers (except iCloud), it makes it very frustrating when you respond to a customer’s e-mail and they don’t get your response and in turn accuse you of ignoring them.

I was able to resolve it with hotmail & Yahoo, as I could speak to a rep, but with gmail (like all Google services) I was unable to resolve the matter as there is zero support to contact. Touch wood it seems to be working at the moment.

One of the reasons why I can’t wait to completely stop dealing with eSellerate is their ‘protection’ system stops some customers from certain counties purchasing and/or activating our software. We had to create a special version without activation, as one particular bundle did incredible well in one of eSellerate’s blacklisted countries and this caused us a serious headache. They refused to accommodate these customers, they also charged us more per activation than we made on each unit, making the bundle a loss for us, and no surprise their management was unwilling to negotiate at all. As time has gone by, we’ve shifted more and more of our business away from them, to the point that in the next 6 months we shall not be using their services at all.

Alright. Thank you.

I use Paypal with a php listener that delivers download instructions by email to customers when they buy a download on my site. Since 98 I tried everything, including getting in touch with Yahoo and setting “trusted” email address IP and domain, but yet, this gets flagged as spam and end up in the spam folder of a lot of customer. What I do now is repeat on every page where people buy that it is necessary to look into the spam folder. And I also send manually a copy of this information. So far (knock on wood), the amount of disputes is limited to maybe once a month, when a particularly stupid customer does not see the warning and discards the mail I send manually. Usually it resolves at the arbitration process Paypal provides, when I am able to simply give the download instructions to the customer.

The more I read about Digital River and eSellerate horror stories, the better I appreaciate having started my own system so long ago. Today I want to look into Stripe as an additional option for customers who do not like/want Paypal. I have no idea of their numbers, and the best way to find out is to simply offer the alternative. The Stripe listener is a whole lot less friendly than Paypal’s, as well as their checkout process, but hopefully Matt’s class will smooth things out.
