Some of us in the pub are discussing about renting a car for going to the Hoover dam.

My wife and I did that today. Well worth it, but go early if you want the full dam tour ($30 per person). We did the standard tour ($15 per) and also walked along the dam. Then we drove up the Memorial Bridge lookout and walked halfway to take pictures.
It’s about a 50 minute drive.
Tip: Parking is free on the Arizona side. Park garage is $7 on the Nevada side.
We did the full dam tour yesterday. Well worth it.
If your staying after the conference, Red Rock Canyon (30m from Las Vegas) is also a great place to visit.
