Remote Debugging Problems

Hey all,

I am having a problem with remote debugging. I have two Macs. On my laptop, I am running the latest version os Xojo (2026 release 3 - just upgraded) and I have copied over the latest remote debugger desktop to my other Mac. But when I try to launch the app remotely, the remote machine says it cannot connect to the remote debugger and quits. I have tried everything I can think of. The upgrade was one. I’ve tried different NICs, making sure the firewalls are off, etc. Nothing seems to fix this. Both Macs are running OS X Tahoe.

Ideas please?

I wish I had some other advice to give you, but I think you’ve covered everything that I would have tried.

But channeling my inner tech support rep :winking_face_with_tongue:, have you tried rebooting each machine and trying again?

Yeah, I know it sounds crazy, but just a week or so ago I was having problems with trying to get the Remote Debugger working in Parallels between my Mac and a macOS VM. Then somewhere along the way I rebooted, mostly through happenstance, and the next time I tried the connection, I got a different and much more successful result.*

* I’m specifically not saying that it fully “worked” per se as this was tied to an outstanding issue:
#80465 - Remote debug to MacOS Tahoe In Parallels ‘Cannot connect to the Debugger’
…but I actually got things to connect and function unlike prior tries. It sounds like you have physical machines involved, but this issue just got resolved last night, so who knows, maybe a future Xojo build might rectify your issue as well.
