random stats

as of a few minutes ago, we averaged 8.5 posts per thread averaged 12 posts per registered user. And that is with pet peeves thread mixed in there to skew the data. But then again, the stats I spewed are skewed. I dont know how many of the registered members are actually members or even posted.

this is a classical example of how stats/numbers can lie.

well I am done interrupting your evening… have a good one…

My guess is that a relatively small percentage of registered users accounts for most of the traffic. Yeah, I’m looking in the mirror.

I am part of that crowd but on the lower end of it.

I don’t know what you’re talking about.

I’d bet that, like the old forums, the top 20-30 posters comprise more than 50% of all posts

You don’t have to count the Pet Peeves thread

Your stats don’t show how many posts I make whilst angry with coworkers, clients, suppliers or myself. Actually, you can probably just count the “off topic” ones. You’d be hard pushed to find one in there that wasn’t created under such circumstances …

Norman, can you start a “Therapy” channel please?

Its already in Off Topic Pet Peeves :stuck_out_tongue:

got bored…

seems there are 1,754 members that have posted at least 1 topic, for a total of 110,615
The top 9 posters make up 24.6% of all posting.
the top 34 posters make up 50%
the top 118 posters make up 75%
top 315 posters make up 90% of all posts

166 people has made more than 100 posts
47 have made more than 500
23 have made more than 1000
10 have made more than 2000
2 more than 3000 (Kem and Norm)
and Norm has made over 6200!

and dang I dropped from a previous #3 spot to #5 … guess I should have done more in Pet Peeves

I think if you were to go look at the old forums you’d find similar numbers in terms of top posters & most active users contributing the vast majority of the posts

Personally I didn’t bother much with the old phpBB forums, esoTalk is far more pleasant so instead of lurking all the time, I tend to post more.

Right - just saying that even in the old forums it was still a small group that contributed the vast majority of the posts

There the top 50 poster comprised 40% of all posts
And I suspect the rest of the stats would be very similar

Yes, sorry, I shouldn’t have quoted you when I replied. It’s probably the same on most forums (a small group of very active users making the majority of the posts).

1754 people posting at least 1 topic seems like a fairly healthy number to me though. I’d love to know how many people regularly lurk and never post at all, just gleaning information from posts, which they use to make their multimillion selling apps, while doing deep evil laughs at our petty squabbles and peeves.

Sob.

Not sure that if you just lurk that theres any way to know since you can read without signing in
If you sign in then the forum software knows that

In another forum, I had stats about every visit, and there where approximately 100 readers per poster.
