Question about renewal

In the Xojo site, it states that “…you can continue to build with any Xojo releases prior to the license expiration date, indefinitely.”
This means that I can only build but not compile, after one year as passed, after buing Xojo, if I don’t renew the purchase?
And how much is the renewal?

Whatever version of Xojo you have when your license expires, you can keep building apps with that version.

Newer versions of Xojo will not allow you to build an app if the license has expired, but you can still run the apps in the Xojo IDE.

With the mobile version (iOS) - while it will still be able to create iOS apps after your license expires, eventually you will not be able to upload them to the App Store because they will be using an older iOS SDK (it’s built in) and the App Store will require the current version.

The cost to renew depends on what version you’re using (Lite, Desktop, etc).

You cannot compile apps with a version after your expiration date. You can always run apps from the ide with any version in the future.

Build = create an executable that you run separately from the IDE.

Whether doing that or running in the debugger always involves compliation.

Thank you all.
From what I understood, I can still code and build/compile with the version I bought, even after an year has passed.
That is great to know. I will buy the latest release, then.

Yes, true, even after 2 or 3 years or more. However, the operating system changes will eventually mean that the applications you build will not work in a satisfactory way. Xojo will not go back and fix the old version if changes are required. It could be years before that happens.
