Perry Como does a Roberta Flack song - Killing me Softly

I’m just old enough to remember the Roberta Flack version when I was a young child. I love that song. I came across this nice, calm. cool version by Sinatra. Turn it up loud.

The roberta Flack version came out either my senior year in high school or freshman year in college…

But this does not sound like Frank Sinatra … To me it sounds like Perry Como (my mother used to watch him on TV)

According to a post on the Sinatra Family Website (attributed to Nancy Sinatra)

but a lovely rendition, regardless

Flack version was 1973

There is some controversy whether it was Frank Sinatra singing that song. IMO the phrasing and voice is Sinatra’s style.

Regardless, by Flack (known), Sinatra or Como, it is a beautiful song and understood by those that have been there.

[EDIT]

If it is Perry Como, then I’ll get some of his records.

Well my wife walked into the room while I was playing it… I asked “Sinatra or Como”… she said “Como for sure”
and we are both of the age that we remember them

According too Wikipedia Sinatra Never covered it, but Como did.

Just saw that post Dave. Wow!! similar voice and phrasing. Nice nonetheless.

Was Como before Sinatra?

Don’t know when Como started but Sinatra became big first (and was always much bigger)

Long before Xojo was founded.

Well whoever sung that song, and I do love the Roberta Flack version, but I also do love the smooth casual style of the Male vocals - whoever it is.

Casual, confident, yet spills his/her heart out. I wonder who wrote the words?

I’m going to listen now to Sinatra’s New York New York.

And may I say, not in a shy way, my absolute favourite building on this earth is the Chrysler building in New York City. I hope to see it one day.

At first I didn’t get what the top title meant. Then it hit me…

Frank Sinatra does a Roberta Flack song - Killing me Softly

is a metaphor for a XOJO app looking like a native app. :open_mouth:

The song was written by Norman Gimbel and Charles Fox and was first released by Lori Lieberman in 1972. There were numerous covers by many artists afterwards. A sign that this was and still is a good song!

See here for a (long) list of covers, including perry Como and Roberta Flack

Yes agreed, it is Perry Como and not Frank Sinatra. Thought I’d better fix up the title.

@Guy

Yeah, seems like a metaphor for my current App - Killing me Softly - indeed! Maybe that’s why I like the song.

My problems though, and nothing to do with Xojo.
