I have been very happy with DynaPDF from MBS. It costs some money, but it does everything I need and has definitely been worth the price.

Last time I used ImageMagick it relied on Ghostscript for Postscript / PDF conversions. If that is still the situation then you would still be bound by the Ghostscript license.

For what it does, DynaPDF is good value for money. PDF is complex and it is one part of our system we gladly license technology from someone who knows better.
