OT: Bourse application is running invisibly…

I had a blockage yesterday evening and so I issued a CmdOption-Esc (Force Quit).

That allows me to see that the Bourse application is running silently and INVISIBLE (Cmd-Tab does not display it).

I checked my Dock, no Bourse Icon, but the application reappears even when Internet is off.

I fired it, set it to Open all the time, run, power off, boot one more time and it was there, but I cannot remove it, it reappears.

Heard about that ?

Ideas to remove it ?

The internet was useless about it for me.

The icon shown is the Stocks app, is it perhaps called something else in another language?

I’ve not run it much, but when I do I’ve not had problems quitting it.

  1. I do not run it,
  2. I do not have trouble to quit it (Force-Quit)
  3. Goto 1 automatically.

That is the problem: I never fired it, never need it, and yes, Stocks can be its US-English name, but its name does not matter: it’s a Ghost application !

MacBook Pro M1 / Sequoia

Stock Exchange (English) = Bourse (French).

I tried to trash the application: not allowed.
I cannot compress it nor rename it.

BUT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT THE NAME OF THE APPLICATION HAVE TO DO WITH MY PROBLEM. I’ve made a screen shot to deal with that (if a deal have to be done).

Did you try Cmd-Option-Esc ? (Force-Quit) to show the window ? This is the only place where the application appears as running.

Do you see it with Activity Monitor?

The Stocks and the News apps are currently “System” things in macOS, you can’t delete them or at least shouldn’t.
What you can do to avoid it is:
Go to “System Preferences” → “Notifications”, locate “Stocks” (Bourse) and uncheck all notifications there to turn it “off”.

Thank you Rick.

No, no Stocks (Bourse) there, but a ton of applications.

So I suppose it is now the most “off” possible for your system? It can’t be removed.

Yes, it appears there.

@Emile_Schwarz - Make sure you don’t have any stock widgets running.

No, I do not have any ?

How can that be ? I never was close enout to stock exchange in my whole life !

As far as I can tell, this is new with Sequoia. I will ask Apple Store when I can (if I can walk there).

On my machine, the stock ticker for AAPL seems to get added every year when I update the OS.
