No longer a beta tester?

Hello,

Since some months ago, I started not seeing new messages in the “Pre-Release” channel, although the channel appeared in my list once logged. Today, I wanted to ask why and discovered I can’t post there (I could, earlier).
My licence is still active (a pro one). Has something changed about the requirements?

You’re still a pre-release tester, but there is no general pre-release available just at the moment.

Ah, OK, thanks for the information.

However, are beta releases not made all along the year? (or it’s an “alpha” cycle for which beta testers aren’t allowed to see?). The lack of information is confusing me (especially since the last message I’m seeing is 2 months old).

It looks like Xojo still working with alpha software. Once it is ready for beta testing they will put the version up for testing.

From what Geoff said, they are using the extra time they have (for not having the conference) to be able to release a better first pre-release for beta testing. We need to wait for that to happen.

Anyway, we can’t discuss pre-release versions on the general forum.

OK. That’s weird: I don’t ever recall having seen 2 months without beta testing. Perhaps I don’t remember…

Can’t wait to see this! They certainly have made a good choice.
(not to say the virus had something good, but…)

Yes, I’m not saying anything about the content of these versions, just questioning about the current flow of the beta state. I would have asked in the pre-release channel, if it was not read-only (that was my initial clue in building my question).

Thanks.

Go watch Geoff’s video on Youtube and a lot of this is explained in it

There are a few recent videos on the Xojo YouTube channel you might enjoy.

This is effectively the Xojo.Connect keynote presentation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oi5MCrDlpsg
And here’s a Q&A with Geoff Perlman and Paul Lefebvre: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QVRI2hEezE

Thank you for the link.
However (and that’s why I never follow conferences), while I can write/read english, I have troubles understanding it verbally (I “read” using french syllables; that’s weird) . I’ll take a look anyway (perhaps it’s subtitled? :-P. )

A lot of great resources, indeed, it looks. I’ll see what I can understand (because of my language barrier).
Thank you.

It should be a rather big release. They probably need to do some ironing before entering the testers lion’s cage :stuck_out_tongue:

Try YouTube’s automatic subtitles/closed captioning. (Click the CC button underneath the video).

Granted.
We’ll certainly have to deal with bugs from early new features, while bugs from long-standing features are still being “reviewed”…
(not saying they don’t do good work, I think they do; but fixing bugs has often been too long (or not yet done)).

Oh, great; I watch YouTube not often, so I didn’t know about that. English captioning would suffice (and certainly be more accurate).
Thank you!
