New MacBook Pro (13" & 15")

Announced this afternoon.

Or morning, for those of us in the USA.

Will be interesting to see the geekbench scores. I’m still using a 2012 rMBP here. Which actually is not a bad machine. But much slower SSD than current, not IPS or near 500 nits brightness, only 802.11n wifi, shorter battery life, etc.

How much does i7 help vs i5 when compiling or launching debug on a 64-bit project?

no more 15" “old” retina… good luck with papillon-only keyboards !

And ordered

Still no NVMe?

Which model Christian ?

Swinehund!

For rich people only. Standard and poor people walk away.
Second hand products price will rise too.

Apple have something expensive to buy lately… A manufacture plant for iPhone to avoid DDT import taxes on China build products ? :frowning:

What does Elton John sings ? … Oh: “It’s sad, so sad it’s a sad sad situation” from memory so I can be wrong.

15" inch of course.
Same what I have, just more RAM and more 2 more cores.

I would like a 15" without TouchBar. It should be an option for me as it increase the price too much comparatively of the use I would do. I don’t use the F1 - F12 keys and I don’t see why I would need TouchBar.

15" 2015 model still working fine and I see no major benefit to upgrade now

Think I will wait and see what next year models bring to the table

You can upgrade with an i9 processor. I didn’t even know there was an i9.

I just read the keyboard issues (sticking keys) isn’t resolved. The keyboard is quieter though.
My MBP2017 has already got 3 new keyboards (all replaced for free). The sticky keys issues is not what you expect from a +3200€ machine.

Lol me either :stuck_out_tongue:

I just read the keyboard issues (sticking keys) isn’t resolved.
Conclusion; may be far from truth…

Next year laptops ? Follows the last years trend: a bit more powerful and far more expensive.

That is why I keep waiting

I’ve been needing a MacBook Pro with 32GB of RAM for 3 years; now that Apple ships one, I am going to wait even longer. I would like to see some evidence to prove if they’ve fixed the keyboard issues or not, also if the i9 processor actually runs at i9 speeds or is under-clocked to meet the thermal limitations of such a small chassis, the Windows laptops I’ve seen that use the i9 experience impressive performance, but come in much larger physical machines, because the i9 is a HOT beast.

Ultimately; the longer I wait, the more I think about just waiting even more for the next generation.

This is my new favorite - inexpensive, small, lightweight, and runs very cool:

I’m getting too old to worry about all of that other stuff. My 15" 2013 Retina i7 with 16GB still does a great job for me.

And that is why I still use a 2012 rMBP…

But after six years, I’m seriously contemplating finally moving on. More because of some of the other things. Like being able to drive 4k (or 5k) monitors, better wifi, better screen brightness and IPS, SSD speeds that are 8x that of my 2012, longer battery life, etc.
