You have to reload the page first, and if nobody else has posted then you should be able to change it.
The problem with geometric shapes is that they invariably remind us of other similar geometric shapes. And if a geometric shape has a slight imbalance or direction then it reminds us of a swastika.
Ask Gravatar or make a petition for them to change to round default symbols instead.
It is quite random, sometimes it is not possible to edit even though it is the last post.
What else 
Sometmes this work, sometimes not. Even closing the Browser and deleting the Browser cache doesn’t help (in the case abave).

Have you ever laid on the grass when child looking at the clouds finding animals and objects? If people stop to look for animals on the clouds, they will see clouds. Change the pattern, for a round one, and fat people will accuse Gravatar of joking about their condition. Let’s just let it as it is, and stop looking for unicorns.

In fact if you cover your left eye, and stare really hard at the logo below whilst squinting with your right eye, what do you see… It is really hard but if you keep trying you will see it…
