My licence ended ten days ago, therefore I cannot make builts in 2025R1.
I’d appreciate if somebody could test and tell me the size of an average app built on Mac for Mac (universal) and Windows (x86 64-bit) app with 2024R42 and 2025R1 (so that I may see the difference in size between 2024 and 2025). Thanks.
There’s one
For Windows it is smaller, not for macOS
I don’t know about average, but when creating a new Desktop macOS app (empty with no additions or code), the built Universal app with each Xojo version (using the same project) is the following:
- 2024r4.2 = 26,255,635 bytes (26.4 MB on disk)
- 2025r1 = 26,275,603 bytes (26.5 MB on disk)
There is one small win though for macOS Desktop apps that use a DesktopHTMLViewer - it no longer includes the RegEx.dylib if you’re not using the RegEx class (Issue # 78495). A savings of 777 Kb.
Thank you for answering. I really apreciate it.
