I feel like desktop should have it too, if it doesn’t already… Looking at the store Console applications only are under the pro which is overkill if you’re only making desktop applications (including console). I have pro now but I’m considering downgrading since I haven’t been using web or mobile.
You should believe the website then.
You are not the first one with this feeling, and will not be the last.
You can click ‘Compare Features’ button to see a picture of what is included in each version (console is only available in Pro and Pro+).
As you have Pro license now, you can renew with Desktop and use that to compile Desktop and use the latest Pro available to you to continue building Console apps. Just an idea.
That’s unfortunate and yeah since console doesn’t get many features and changes that strategy might work well. Just don’t like having 2 of the same IDE
Thanks for the deep and thoughtful input to further my understanding
This is possibly a throwback to when a Console app was the only way to take advantage of multiple CPUs in Xojo - making them a very good feature differential. Now that preemptive threads are a reality, perhaps this will change.
Multiple cores became more available to “the masses” when they introduced Workers. If I remember, they were Pro-only at first but they changed it. At that time, I moved my major projects from the old threads to Workers–and just finished moving them back to preemptive threads.
