Kem has disappeared, probably others as well, and the forum is eerily quiet. I bet this is the result of iOS Alpha testing : the corresponding hidden channel must be booming full of contributions
Richardās last name is probably more of a reason for the lull
I know Iāve been at the pool and walking around twice as much since summer started, and the heat doesnāt make it easy to take time to sit in front of a computer for pleasure. Then, in a week, Iāll be gone for two weeks in a Majorca.
I had assumed everyone had their priorities affected by summer
Lucky you
Well, iOS makes progress as you can read on Xojo blog.
But thatās a huge project and itās ready when itās ready.

I never asked for any release date. Hope it will be ready before the end of times. Itās like waiting for a lady with a bouquet in hand. After three hours, you start looking at other girls. In this case it has been quite a bit more wait. And the lady has lost a great deal of attractiveness. Frankly I do not care when it will be ready at this point. If too late, then too bad. Pushing luck has limits.
In effect, as it is a huge project and a necessarily buggy one like any alpha, it must consume a lot of testers time
Where I live I have 4 seasons: summer, summer, summer and summer. So, Iām not affected.
Oh that sounds nice. Here we say we have two seasons, Winter and Construction.
Youāre ringing bells from my past, Tim ⦠When I worked for General Electric back in the 1980ās, I was living in sentenced to Utica, NY for several years ⦠Your description is spot on!
We have 4
Winter
Canāt make up its mind but it seems like spring - kind of
Summer
Canāt make up its mind but it seems like fall - kind of
Both ārandom seasonsā, as I like to call them, may include aspects of summer or winter or those two in between states where it snows in the morning, or rains, and is then blisteringly hot in the afternoon; or vice versa where its nice in the morning and snows, rains or something in between in the afternoon.
I hate the random seasons
Oh, I know how it is. I lived 10 years in Venezuela. Essentially you have Humid Summer, Humid Summer with lots of Rain, and Humid Hellish Summer.
Guys, you need to run ā¦B4I is coming ā¦
We have two seasons.
āNice as all get outā ⦠usually 363 days a year
WINTER (yeah ok rain)⦠one or two days a year
SNOW? I thought this forum rejected āfour letterā words?
Besides Iām of the firm opinion, that āsnowā is a figment of the imagination of those of you poor souls living in the northern and eastern areas of the US⦠and corresponding parts of Europe
FYI we did show iOS at the conference in the spring with a deployment TO the device
Lots of work going on to make it ready for the first release

The work on B4i has already started. B4i will create native iOS applications. The language will be the same as B4A and B4J.
The APIs will be similar in some cases and different in others.
In order to develop with B4i you will need an iOS device and an Apple developer account.
The current plan is to host a cloud of Macs for the compilation which means that developers will not need to have access to a Mac computer. There will also be an option to host the remote Mac compiler locally instead of the cloud compilers (not sure whether it will be available in the first version).
The B4i code will be converted to Objective C and then compiled with the regular Objective C compiler together with the libraries.
The rapid debugger will allow modifying the code without rebuilding the package making the ātesting cycleā much quicker.

STARTED ? Ā
jun 19, 2014 - and theyāre going to translate basic to Obj-C and let Xcode do all the real work
They should have been done already since all the hard work is done for them.
Might as well write in Obj-C since that will be easier to do on device debugging, installation, provisioning etc
Or you could already write in NSBasic but it doesnāt deploy quite the same way etc
We had a torrid dry summer around 39ĀŗC (not good), then a good summer (25-38ĀŗC), now we are having a humid summer with very few rains (25-38ĀŗC, I like this one too, I do like seeing clouds, that beautiful blue sky day after day is tiresome), and I donāt know yet which kind of summer will have after this one. But here is not Venezuela and I am sure we have different kinds of summer-summer-summer-summer.

Well⦠It did snow once in Hollywood. They still have the postcards to attest to it
Here we look forward to November. By then itās cool enough to go outside and have a barbecue.
Can you grill without fire in summer there in UAE?
I bet the eggs cook outside if you just keep them in the sun.
I have been to http://www.basic4ppc.com no news from their iOS product yet.
On the other hand, Livecode is offering a licence for $210 instead of $299 http://livecode.com/
Maybe Xojo iOS will be better, but it does not exist yet. So in the meantime ā¦
