I am new to Xojo Report

Hi All,

I have been playing Xojo for a while and I have created a few web apps, now I am moving to reporting. I would like to ask for your suggestions in selecting tools for reporting, Xojo native, Valentina, BKS shorts … I hope the tool can help me for the following:

  1. UI for report design
  2. able to print portrait or landscape reports
  3. able to print images
  4. able to print lines, charts
  5. report preview (hopefully with zoom in/out)
  6. able to print as PDF and email out
  7. easy to learn and use :stuck_out_tongue:

Shorts doesn’t have charts (yet - working on it) but it can do everything else you listed. You can try out the demo at http://www.bkeeney.com/allproducts/bkeeney-shorts/

does shorts work in linux?

The designer in Linux desktop is unsupported though I suspect it would work (never tried it, honestly).

We have quite a few web apps running on Linux using Shorts. The only issue I’m aware of is you need to tell DynaPDF where fonts are located. And have them installed. DynaPDF has some blog posts about that.
