Is there a way to get some text into the status bar at the top of an ipad screen, (only while my app is visible) , in the same way that time or wifi status appears?
No — iOS apps cannot draw in the status bar where the Wi-Fi, cellular, battery, and time indicators live. That area is strictly reserved for the system UI.
You can however hide the status bar altogether.
You should be able to. Since a canvas can be put behind the TopLayoutGuide.Top ive done this on some apps. However apple may dislike it
