How can I get rid of that focus ring?

I use a popup menu and when I start the program it shows a focus ring round the popup menu.

I can’t find a possibility to eliminate that ring; the property “UseFocusRing” belongs to canvas, which is not a superclass of Popup menu.

what platform? I have never seen a focusring around a popup menu

Platform is OSX 10.8.5.

But your answer has led me to try the following:

I made a copy of my popup menu control and the copy is ok - it doesn’t have the focus ring. Maybe it was because my program was an old program made with real basic.
