Happy 40th TRS-80

Nice. I did something similar in my college Number Theory class. I took the problem, digested it, and wrote a program to solve it. I showed it to the professor and he was actually impressed.

H&R Shack was just dummy software and the second act of the magic show. I’m pretty sure today it would be considered infringement in some form or another.

There are TWO (yeah only 2) websites the Google revealed that even mention “H&R Shack”

It was a program used to “sell” the idea of the TRS80 to Charles Tandy …

I only heard about it and it amazed me that it could prepare taxes. Imagine my surprise when i showed up with tax documents. What! Where is The Prestige!

While I could not afford the TRS-80, my first exposure was as a freshman course in high school. But, this course was reserved specifically for seniors. As a freshman, i was determined to get in. I pressured the instructor as well as anyone else that I thought would cave. Finally, they acquiesced and put me on the “waiting list”. I’m sure they only did that to get me to shut up and thought no one would drop the course. Ha! It backfired and I was in when several students dropped the course. The rest was history and I was hooked.
