FolderItem Permissions - before file creation, or after?

I’m having a senior moment here, I suddenly can’t remember if a folderitem’s actual file has to exist (as in something has been written to it) before you can set permissions on it via code.

It does, unless you want it to inherit the permissions from it’s parent folder.
