Emoji buttons fail on ios 26.2

Having bought a new mac, installed latest Xcode etc, I have returned to my iOS app to add a new feature.

It compiles, runs in simulator, but suddenly, buttons that used emoji captions as images are all displaying a question mark instead.

Is this an iOS 26 thing?

..at design time

Seems it is a bug in the Simulators…

(I’m sure there used to be a way to change the title of a post, but I cannot add ā€˜Simulator’ to this one)

Clicking the title allows you to edit, but only for an undisclosed certain length of time.

You can ask for mod help renaming something too. Go to this page and click the ā€œmessageā€ button in the top right corner.

Won’t be worth doing now, and it’s obviously not caught out anyone else (that has seen the post).

Currently force downloading the iOS 26.1 simulator package, which I hear might tide me over. I’ll report back

Confirmed:

Installing iOS 26.1 Simulator package (assuming you dont have it), restores the ability to use emojis
