Documentation Versions

Hi All,

For more than one project I need to use an older version of Xojo.
But when I look in the language reference online it is all updated to the new way of doing things, which doesn’t work.
(Not trying to start anything one way or the other here ~ just looking for some document functionality)
Is there a way to set the Xojo version so that I can see the slightly older documents instead of the new stuff?

Thanks.

Hi Craig,

you can use the local Language Reference instead. You need to select it at the preferences Window of the Xojo Version you work with.

Yeah, I know. I was just hoping that there was an online version as that UI seems to be a little easier than navigating the PDFs.

Thanks Martin.

Dash (highly recommended) can display separate reference files for each version back to 2017r3.

Yeah, Dash is great when I am on my Mac, but Windows…not so much. ¯\(?)

Just to double check this was conveyed clearly, Martin is talking about an IDE preference that uses a local copy of the language reference database that is searchable within the IDE.

I did not try it but for windows you have Velocity
https://velocity.silverlakesoftware.com/
that seems to import Dash docsets

edit: this could help to install velocity : https://lucasg.github.io/2017/02/05/Downloading-Dash-docsets/
edit 2: for Linux or Windows users you have Zeal : https://zealdocs.org/

Hi Tim ~ thanks for pointing that out. I always just go to the web by default. That looks like it will work nicely. Thanks!
Hi Jean-Yves ~ I like Dash so I will take a look that, Thanks!

And Martin sorry I missed the point of your reply.

Thanks All.
