Controlling a DVD

Has anyone figured out how to control a DVD player in Windows?

I need to be able to play from the start, play from one time code to another, freeze, blank the image and turn it on again, etc, all under program control. I’ve spent what feels like several centuries searching Microsoft documentation but with no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
