Compilation times depending on the machine

Hi all,

I’m thinking about getting a new Mac. Regarding compilation speed: given the same memory and project and settings, is the compilation time for a project (Web 1 with Xojo 2019R3 for now) roughly proportional to a core’s processing power?

For example, Claude tells me that my current MacBook Pro M2 Pro scores 2,656 on Geekbench 6 single-core.

By comparison, he tells me that a 14" MacBook Pro M5, also with a fan for cooling, scores 4,263 on the same single-core Geekbench 6.

He concludes that the compilation speed on the new machine should be 38% faster on average. What do you think, and what have you noticed in practice on your machines?

The Xojo IDE and compiler mostly work on a single core, so the single core benchmarks are relevant for you.

The linker uses multiple cores.
Memory bandwidth and SSD speed also helps.

You may have a bit quicker build times if you get a more powerful MacBook Pro.
