Can't run new xojo 2023r

Hi All.

Running Windows 7 64 bit.

I’ve just downloaded the new xojo 2023r2, but when I go to run it, it gives me an error

The program can’t start because api-ms-win-crt-string-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer.

However when I go to copy it to the system32 / systemwow64 it is there.
And I can’t copy the files INTO the folders.

Did anyone else have that problem? Anyone have a fix?

Xojo does not officially support Windows 7, see System requirements — Xojo documentation

Go and install Visual Studio Runtime Libraries.

regrettably, Christian it doesn’t seem to have worked. I used

the 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2022
https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe

(as administrator) and rebooted and it still didn’t work.

Any other ideas?

Regards

Maybe check if Windows Updater has a few updates to add missing DLLs.
Otherwise ask Xojo’s support staff, please.

Issue has been opened with Xojo Support Christian.

Will advise.

Regards

The Windows IDE will now require at least Windows 10 (Build 1803) to run. Built apps that do not take advantage of the DesktopXAMLContainer will still be able to run on Windows 7 though.

Those guys made a massive sequence of offline installs and updates trying to fix such “issues of something not included” and Windows Update don’t care: Latest Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes All-in-One May 2023 Download | TechPowerUp

Not sure if Windows Update are “updating” the defunct Windows 7 as it should today.

The latest Windows 10 updates is… two days old (as of August 10, 2023, en.wikipedia.org).

Which IDE is the latest one running on Windows 8.1?

Why is this information not in the release notes (or where did I miss it?)? Or is this information to be found in some other location?

(Edit: Sorry, this was ment to be a reply to William Yu)

Windows 10 is one thing, the defunct Windows 7 is another thing.

There is a page that shows when things were removed / support was dropped: Deprecations — Xojo documentation

It appears that this new Windows 10 minimum requirement was not added.
