I keep a eye on the French refurbish to replace my old MacBookPro i7 (more than 10 years old). I just saw this one : MacBook Pro 16 pouces reconditionné avec puce Apple M3 Pro, CPU 12 cœurs et GPU 18 cœurs .
I prefer to buy a M3 as I will keep this computer many years too.
Is there any reason to not buy this one?
I develop with Xojo as a hobbyst, and I sometimes play with X-Plane (the biggest applications I use).

If 512GB SSD storage space is enough for you then go for it.
I’ve never had an MBP with more than 512Gb storage.
I keep 2 Windows VM’s on it, several copies of Xojo, and a partition for ‘the next MacOS’
The space hog is Xcode. I only need it to allow me to compile an iPad app that doesnt get touched more than once per year, but it takes up SO much space.
It really depends on your data. Last week I had a user who moved a 90 GB file to the trash and forgot to empty the trash. He blew through the free disk space warnings of my app and ended up with no free disk space at all.
Also I really don’t like how Apple treats the free disk space as their space for TimeMachine snapshots. You can end up with way less free disk space than you think.
Sorry for the delay in my answer, thank you for yours answers. I wondered if M3 was a good idea and I am reassured. I have to leave home for 12 days then I won’t buy it now, and if it is not here when I’ll be back I’ll wait for a similar product.
Just to be sure, actually I build app from a MacBookPro Intel for Intel and Arm. When I’ll be under Arm, I will still be able to build Intel app with Xojo right?
yes you will
I just bought it. I actually use a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15 pouces, late 2013) with:
- An Adaptor Apple Thunderbolt Ethernet Gigabit
- A Kanex - KTU10 Adaptor Thunderbolt vers eSATA/USB 3.0 - Noir
I don’t think I will be able to use them with the new MacBook. I think I will buy things like that:
but there are many many brands: Belkin, Adeqwat, Urban factory, Satechi, Bluestork, Verbatim, Hama, etc. .
Why they all have HDMI? I don’t need it as there is already a HDMI on the MacBookPro? I do not need SDXC neither as there is already one too. I want use my old USB sticks 2 or 3 and I want ethernet (I don’t use Wifi when I’m at home.
Do you have advice for me? Thank you.
Because MacBook Air, iPad and older MacBooks don’t have HDMI ports.
Although not sure the HDMI port would work with an iPad.
“Qui peut le plus, peu le moins” as we say in French.
Most usb-c hubs tend to overheat, choose wisely and look for serious tech reviews before buying it.
we sell a lot of them, and belkin is the brand with less problems…
and it’s still cheaper than the apple equivalents.
Jean-Yves, tu es à Besançon Chateaufarine toi c’est bien ça ? J’y passe parfois mais je vais rarement dans la galerie marchande. Tu n’es jamais au magasin si ?
This misspelling actually gives much sense .
I received it and I’m installing it. The next post will be from my new MacBookPro (I hope ).
I post my Sonoma question here.
When I save a PDF file I received from an email, there is an envelope at the end of the name and the expeditor of the email in in the information window. I don’t need that and I didn’t find how to remove this feature.
And in picture (example below is from my website), it detect automatically email, date, etc. . How to remove this feature?
It seems to be some sort of meta data. It’s one of the few nice features of Sonoma. It allows me to see which file came from which customer.
This is what I found on Apple Discussions.
Remove link from saved attachment - Mac mail
- In finder
- View as columns (with Preview)
- Select the file
- In the preview you see a button with a link to the Sender email
- Right click on the button with the link
- Select Remove
- The envelope is removed
I tried it and it does indeed remove the envelope.
[edit]
I noticed that the link to the Sender email is also visible when you do Show Info (cmd + i).
Right click and selecting Remove is also working.
[/edit]
Thank you, I will try that. I always display my folders in icons, then I will have a lot of step to do each time. I hope a small app wich remove this will be made.
Edit: I tried right-clic on the info window and i didn’t see the contextual menu. I suppose i did something wrong and will try again
You are a developer. Do some thinking!
Actually, my Alfred script to save attachments doesn’t have the envelope. See Xojo + Alfred .
After you have opened the Info window look at right side of the icon.
Just underneath the title you can see the button with the link.
Right click on this link. Now you can select Remove.
Thank you for your help.
I’m a developer but I have enough softwares to manage as a hobbyst. And if I would try to developp a program for this feature I would try to make it in AppleScript.
