Built in Menu

Hi All,
Something that has often bugged me. In the MacOS menubar, if you want to have an “Edit” option then there appears to be 4 Apple options that I can’t find any way to get rid of. They are:
Writing Tools
Autofill
Start Dictation
Emoji & Symbols.

Same thing happens with “File” menu but I’ve found references to them that I can delete which will get rid of them, but not so for the 4 on “Edit”.

Are we permanently stuck with them, or is there a way to get rid of them?

Thanks,
Barry

You could probably use a Declare to banish them, but why would you? They’re present in almost every Mac application and users get accustomed to them being available.

try to name the menu like "Edit " with a space after. or some invisible char.

Hi Eric,
Thanks for the reply. You’re prob right except I’m just a hobbiest and my apps are for my use only. The other reason tho, is just that it bugs me and I’m curious where it comes from and if there is a way to stop it. Just an exercise for me. I’ve learnt so much from you guys by posting my (probably annoying) questions. Eg., when you say use a “Declare”, that’s a word I’ve seen but have never used it, so wouldn’t know how to in the context you’ve suggested.

Hi Jean-Yves,
Yes, you’re probably right but, as I said in the previous reply, that doesn’t give me the answer to where these things are lerking.

Barry

The menus are lurking in macOS.

Hi Beatrix,
Thanks, yes I suspected that might be where they live :frowning:
