Build a development environment

I am having difficulty setting up a development environment.
I tried to follow your instructions but failed.

I would like to know if you can explain it in a simple way.

Hello Peter,

Welcome to this forum.
Before being able to give you help we will need more info:
On what computer (Mac, Linux or Windows)?
Which instructions didn’t work?
What didn’t work? Did you get errors?
As far I can remember the install was pretty straightforward, on Mac mini, on Linux Mint and on Win 10.

Brian

I am using Windows.

Brian is correct, we need more data on what you’ve done and what is not right.

Talking the question to the basics, I will say:

Download Xojo 2023r4 (Xojo Download
“Install the IDE:
Linux and Windows: click in Install and follow the instructions on screen)
MacOS: Open the dmg and move the application Xojo above the Application icon:

Fire theXojo application (all platforms).

Then, you are ready to create a new project or open an example and run it.

or Open an example:

Tell us where the devil lies…

What difficulty? Whose instructions? A development environment for what?

I’m doing Android app development and I recommended xojo to a company.
So I bought the tool, but I don’t even have a development environment.

Please explain in detail what you did. Then show some screenshots. Finally explain - again in detail - what your results were.

Haven’t you seen an Android button in a screen shot I shared above ?

I haven’t seen the Android button either in the screen shot you shared above …

Do you mean that you hadn’t noticed it before, and now you have, or that your version of the Xojo IDE doesn’t show that button?

Yes, I see the button in your screenshot, but not in the screenshots of Emile.
This is getting a life of its own, it was meant as a small joke.

This is stange, because I checked in that screen shot before asking.

And… I do not have installed Android Studio.

But I do not saw the Android Target (in the question), else I do not tried to help: I never used Android.

I am sorry, but i don’t get it.
It’s also visible in @Emile_Schwarz Screenshots. :person_shrugging:

It’s in the same place in @Emile_Schwarz 's third screenshot as that of @Sascha_S .

Edit: if you double-click that button, the Android development environment appears (first time I ever tried that).

Yes, I must apologize, it is there. Sorry to distract.
