Breaking Bad

Any tips on how I can convince my wife to carry on watching Breaking Bad? We watched the first two episodes of it from a box set and she seems to think its too slow and boring. Everybody I know (as well as IMDB) say its one of the greatest shows on Earth yet for the love of me I can’t convince her to persevere.

Anyone got a good tactic to use?

P.S. we only have the one TV.

Tell her to stick with it! It definitely picks up. I think we watched the first 2 seasons in about a month. So good!

Retain control over the remotes for the TV and DVD player. I did that with Sons of Anarchy and eventually my wife caught on to the show from repeated exposure. Eventually there will be some part of an episode that catches here attention and from there she should be hooked.

I’m sorry… but I cannot stand either of those shows… and why on earth would you want to FORCE someone to watch them… Perhaps they will end up liking them… or perhaps they will end up disliking you. Give your wife her own choice… and I promise it will be a good thing in the long run… If you want to watch them, and she does not… record it and watch it by yourself another time.

Lets be clear it IS NOT forcing someone to watch something. She isn’t restrained and her eyes are not glued open. She’s got free will to come and go into the room and whether or not to look up and watch the TV. I’m guessing that Garry would probably say the same thing.

Jesus - it’s responses like yours that takes any enjoyment out of responding to someone.

That show is awesome, my wife also loves it

Unfortunately she hates True Blood :frowning:

Intentionally or unintentionally misreading peoples comments is common on the internet.

I agree that can be the case. However - it is hard to interpret a bolded word like Force very differently.

This makes for a good example for the case of forget the chit chat crap and stick to business.

Judge John Hodgman has decided on this subject several times. Here’s a couple episodes I found, I’m sure there’s more…

I think with True Blood people either love it or hate it. I am looking forward to Dexter starting this weekend!

Connect your laptop to your TV - Then fire up your Xojo IDE - Start coding a bunch of functions - Then ask your wife if she would like to watch Breaking Bad instead.

PS: Tell her that you are madly in love with her and that you will buy her a “chemistry set” when you have sold your first Xojo app.

Already got my Popcorn ready for Dexter this Sunday.

That’s what the 2nd tv is for. You claim it is so she can watch at her leisure. But that’s the one u hook up the PS3 or XBOX to, and soon enough u have the very beginnings of ur mancave

I have 5 University degrees and am also a licensed Professional Chemist - I really like their ‘technical talk’ as some of it is real and some is pure fiction. It makes an interesting movie

Just as a teaser, never use Hydrofluoric Acid … its nasty stuff…

Sincerely,

Eugene

Ah, the blessed Man Cave

Breaking Bad is by far the best TV show ever, at least in my opinion! But maybe it’s not her cup of tea? I was hooked after the first episode and I didn’t think it started slowly at all. For starting slowly, I think The Wire sets the record (also worth watching, IMHO).

Breaking Bad & Lost are on my list of top shows.

Would be nice if Lost came back.

Big fan of The Wire too.

Have accepted defeat and am going it alone

Dexter, Homeland, and The Walking Dead for me

Except for Daily & Colbert I pretty much never watch anything
Unless it’s hockey playoff time :stuck_out_tongue:
