Bill Atkinson, creator of Quickdraw, MacPaint & HyperCard dies at age 74

I just learned that Bill Atkinson has passed away at the age of 74.

He enriched our lives with pioneering development that made the Apple Macintosh a success.

I met Bill several times in person and had a number of extended conversations with him on several topics of shared interest, including the legacy of HyperCard, high resolution digital photography and Japan.

Not only was he a brilliant man but he was also a very nice person in real life.

Indeed, he was a pioneer and nice guy. Also created a service where you’d upload a photo and they’d create and mail a postcard for you, great idea.
