I wanted to use a custom application icon for a desktop app in Mac OS. Any ideas on developers or software for this?

Whatever you do, do not do it yourself.

If you don’t have the resources to hire an icon designer, use Iconographer to get a decent result:

If you do have resources, hire someone. There are some great places to start looking, like http://dribbble.com

My (personal) Do-Nots:

  • Do not do it yourself. If you were a good artist, you wouldn’t be a good coder. Jack of all trades, master of none.
  • Do not use places that do it for ultra cheap like fiverr, there’s a reason people there can’t get more than $5 for their work.
