Worker Helper apps are not currently built when ARM 64-bit is selected for the main app. When Universal is selected, the Worker Helper apps are currently built as Intel and will run using Rosetta.

The release highlights from 2021r1 state:

Worker improvements, including native Apple Silicon helper apps

I’m just starting a new project and I’m hoping to use Workers for the first time. Which of the two statements is correct?

The release notes are correct. Looks like the doc page was not updated. We will get that fixed.
