This week, Apple made a change to the way apps can be distributed on the App Store. It is now possible for developers to request that their app is “unlisted” on the store, accessible only through a direct link, as well as Apple School Manager and Apple Business Manager. Many Xojo developers make “internal apps” for their own businesses, or others, and here is a good way to distribute those apps inside a business, without it appearing needlessly on the public App Store.
“Apps for specific organizations, special events, or research studies, or apps used as employee resources or sales tools are good candidates for unlisted distribution.”
You do have to get approval for your app to be distributed in this way, partly because apps must still be in a “finished” state (no betas), but this is a very welcome change for many of us.
