App Store Connect: Age rating questions

This morning I got this message from Apple

“We’re reaching out because you have not provided responses to the updated age ratings questions in the App Information section of your app in App Store Connect. If you don’t answer these questions by January 31, 2026, you won’t be able to submit app updates in App Store Connect.”

I’m a little confused: in App Store Connect, how can I “provide responses” and “answer the questions” when my apps are all ‘ready for distribution’ and so they cannot be edited?

“you won’t be able to submit app updates”: I hope the meaning is: when you submit your app updates you’ll have to provide responses and answers.

I’m getting too old…

Go to the Apps, select the app in question, on the Left Pane select App Information. Then Scroll all the way down to Age Ratings and View, most of the questions you would probably have answered already. Anything that doesn’t have a Yes or No, just answer those and Next. The core is the Step 6 Chance-Base Activities, they added the Loot Boxes.

Hope that helps . By the way, you can do that even if the App is in Distribution

Thas is the point: my apps are all in Distribution but all the Yes/No buttons are dimmed, even for the other steps.

Thank you for answering.

I got that email today too and a similar one a month or so ago. At that time, I checked that step you’re on and also saw all the choices were greyed out, and I couldn’t make any selections/updates to it, so I gave up. I’ll check my App Store account tomorrow and see if anything changed where I can make the selections. I too got worried about the “you won’t be able to submit updates”

It’s probably a glitch in their system.

What if you click to Add a New Version but don’t submit it, you can use it for later when you need to submit a new update. See if the Age Ratings is enabled ?

One of my apps show the section and I can edit it.
But not all have it!?

The whole system is a glitch.

For my app everything is greyed out, too. I’ve sent them an email.

Thank you all for your feedback. So it seems we are all in the same boat

Please let us know about the glitched answer!

I am also facing this.

THE ANSWER is that you can only amend the age rating by/while submitting a new build, even if nothing changes. This means I need to needlessly update all my apps, including one that I only uploaded last week.

Since that’s the only way to do it, the “you won’t be able to submit updates” thing is Catch 22

So just wait for the next update?

wait for the next update?

The (hopefully bad) wording suggests that if your next update would be after January 31, then it may not allow you to even do the new update.

I’ve done a few today. Reading what appears, it looks like this is the situation:

-If you do nothing, they guess the age range based on previous responses

-WHEN you add a new build, they won’t let you submit it i(f it is after January 31) until you answer the extra questions (they’ve added new questions - eg do you have loot boxes, do you use other peoples content, and more)

I also sent an email to the developer support this morning

The final question, asking for a URL, reads as optional, however you have to provide an answer in order to save.

I have recently submitted an update for an iOS app and filled out the new age ratings form.
And I still got that notice again yesterday.

Even on another developer account that currently has all apps up-to-date with the newest age-rating form filled out :man_facepalming:

Did you give it a URL for the final question. If not it doesn’t seem to work.
