“We’re reaching out because you have not provided responses to the updated age ratings questions in the App Information section of your app in App Store Connect. If you don’t answer these questions by January 31, 2026, you won’t be able to submit app updates in App Store Connect.”
I’m a little confused: in App Store Connect, how can I “provide responses” and “answer the questions” when my apps are all ‘ready for distribution’ and so they cannot be edited?
“you won’t be able to submit app updates”: I hope the meaning is: when you submit your app updates you’ll have to provide responses and answers.
Go to the Apps, select the app in question, on the Left Pane select App Information. Then Scroll all the way down to Age Ratings and View, most of the questions you would probably have answered already. Anything that doesn’t have a Yes or No, just answer those and Next. The core is the Step 6 Chance-Base Activities, they added the Loot Boxes.
Hope that helps . By the way, you can do that even if the App is in Distribution
I got that email today too and a similar one a month or so ago. At that time, I checked that step you’re on and also saw all the choices were greyed out, and I couldn’t make any selections/updates to it, so I gave up. I’ll check my App Store account tomorrow and see if anything changed where I can make the selections. I too got worried about the “you won’t be able to submit updates”
What if you click to Add a New Version but don’t submit it, you can use it for later when you need to submit a new update. See if the Age Ratings is enabled ?
THE ANSWER is that you can only amend the age rating by/while submitting a new build, even if nothing changes. This means I need to needlessly update all my apps, including one that I only uploaded last week.
Since that’s the only way to do it, the “you won’t be able to submit updates” thing is Catch 22
I’ve done a few today. Reading what appears, it looks like this is the situation:
-If you do nothing, they guess the age range based on previous responses
-WHEN you add a new build, they won’t let you submit it i(f it is after January 31) until you answer the extra questions (they’ve added new questions - eg do you have loot boxes, do you use other peoples content, and more)
If you received the email about updating your app’s ratings, you have at least one app record that has not completed the updated App Store Ratings questionnaire, possibly related to a test app or pre-release app on your account. I checked your account and believe it applies to the app ‘Mail Archiver X’.
Provide responses to the updated age rating questions for each of your apps by January 31, 2026, to avoid an interruption when submitting your app updates in App Store Connect. You can view the age rating for each of your apps under the updated system and respond to the new questions in the App Information section of your app in App Store Connect.
I’d go with Edwing’s suggestion, adding new versions but not submitting them. In fact, adding a new “faulty” version you get a blue age-alert: fix the age requirements and the alert disappears. Later you submit the apps.
